Fans watched the Hamilton Hammers and the Markham Wheelwrights fight to the finish.

Behind a fine performance from Simón Platero, the Hamilton Hammers knocked off the Markham Wheelwrights, 8-7. Platero was 4-4 with a home run and 3 singles. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2 for the Hammers. Oscar Hidalgo, 4-2, earned the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 5.2 innings. Flannan Bishop earned his 1st save, after closing out the game.

Hamilton grabbed control in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and the bases loaded, Abelardo Coronel delivered a run-scoring single, to make it 8-7, in favor of the Hammers.

"I like our mindset right now," said Hamilton manager Leo Amos.

The Hammers, at 28-19, sit in second place in the Ontario Baseball Association Ontario South.
