Thanks in large part to first baseman Darren Devenish, the Thunder Bay Sleeping Giants beat the Thessalon North Stars, 6-3. Devenish went 3 for 4 with a home run and a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Sotero Ramírez collected save number 3. The Sleeping Giants now own a record of 27-27.
Miles Weatherby had a big 2-run home run for the Sleeping Giants in the bottom of the third inning. With Thunder Bay trailing 3-2 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a fastball from Pelayo Fernández, who is tied for 5th in the OBA with a 7.8 K/9 rate, and punished it. The result was his 5th home run of the season, which put the Sleeping Giants on top, 4-3.
"It's always great to put the barrel on the ball and contribute," said Devenish.
