Lachute and Thurso took Mother Nature's best shot and still managed to complete their ballgame.
The Lachute Supercalandres stopped the Thurso Bucherons, 7-3, at Supercalenders Park. The Supercalandres got a big game from Ignacio Palomares, who went 4 for 4 with 4 singles. He scored 3 times. Santiago Romero notched the win in relief. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. His record now sits at 2-0.
Ricardo Magaña drew 1 walk in his only trip to the plate for Lachute. The 19-year old shortstop had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring walk off Jorge Enríquez. It was his 14th walk of the season.
In postgame comments to the Lachute Today, Magaña said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
The win puts the Supercalandres at 34-20, while the Bucherons drop to 29-25.
