Takasaki Sakura starter Cristón Cantú found his groove in his team's 2-0 win over the Niigata Hakuchoh. Ricardo Chávez, who is tied for 4th in the NL in saves with 7, nailed down the save. The setback makes Niigata 38-29.

Cantú, a native of Corozal, Puerto Rico, was dealing all game. He kept Niigata hitters off-balance, while giving the Sakura 8.2 quality innings. Cantú threw 138 pitches, allowing 5 hits and striking out 4.

"It doesn't matter if you're 10 games over .500 or 10 games under, it feels good to win," Cantú told the Takasaki Citizen.
