Danny Moeller impressed in the 8-7 Takasaki win over Niigata. Moeller, who is tied for 3rd in the NL in home runs with 9, slugged 2 home runs. Yasufumi Matsubara earned the win. Paulino Murillo, who is tied for 10th in the NL in wins with 10, took the loss for Niigata. The Sakura raised their record to 42-45.

The Sakura took the lead, 3-1, in the bottom of the third inning. Facing Niigata hurler Paulino Murillo with one out, Kazunori Matsumoto hit a run-scoring single.

"We took home the win," said Matsumoto. "What's not to like?"
