Trifluviens Squeeze Out Win in Pitching Duel
|
Ballpark of Trois-Rivieres featured a tense pitchers' duel.
The Trois-Rivieres Trifluviens downed the Quebec City Dons, 1-0, at Ballpark of Trois-Rivieres. Stellar pitching by Fermín Cruz had a lot to do with it. The left-hander, who is tied for 3rd in the LBQ in strikeouts with 154, handcuffed his opponent all game. Fulco Quiñones, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 1st save.
The Trifluviens got an important contribution from right fielder Ademar González, who in the bottom of the third punched a 1-2 changeup to left for a run-scoring double. It was his 19th double of the season and put the Trifluviens ahead, 1-0.
"Some games build character," said Trois-Rivieres manager Eliezer García. "Like this one."
The 'W' lifts Trois-Rivieres's record to 40-39.
