Thanks in large part to second baseman Wataru Higaki, the Niigata Hakuchoh beat the Hakodate Daiouika, 7-6. Higaki went 2 for 3 with 2 singles and 2 walks, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Niigata is now 59-41.

Diego García, who is tied for 7th in the NL in runs scored with 53, aided the Niigata cause with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the third. For the game, the third baseman went 2 for 3 with a double and was hit by a pitch.

"I'm proud of the way our guys played today to come out with this win," García told the Niigata News.
