The Halifax Batteries faced a tough opponent in Trois-Rivieres pitcher Bill Quarles, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Ballpark of Trois-Rivieres by a final score of 8-4. Quarles went 5.2 innings and allowed no runs. By defeating Trois-Rivieres, the second-place Batteries improved to 57-43.

Halifax used a clutch at-bat from Doroteo López to capture the win. The shortstop hammered a grand slam home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Batteries ahead, 6-3. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

"You start putting runs on the board and winning, everyone's going to get excited," said López.
