Kumamoto Moves on to Japan Series
|
The Kumamoto Kuma "proved we can handle pressure" by beating the Pennant Series and eliminating the Kagoshima Teitoku, according to series MVP Yozo Fujioka.
"This is the big stage, we're off to the Japan Series and looking towards the Japan Series," he said. "There's a lot of pressure at this time of year and it's only going to get more intense from here. But I think we can handle it just fine."
Kumamoto won the final game 4-1, to wrap up the series 4-2.
Fujioka led his team to the series win by putting up a .423 average, with a .444 on-base percentage. He had 1 home runs, drove in 1 RBI and scored 9 runs.
The Kumamoto Kuma don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Kamakura Kodaibito - Niigata Hakuchoh series. Niigata leads the series 3 games to 2. The Japan Series schedule will be announced after the Pennant Series finishes.
