The exploits of shortstop Ricardo Villareal, who is tied for 9th in the OBA with a .497 slugging percentage, helped the Brampton Florists defeat the Markham Wheelwrights, 11-1. Villareal went 3-5 with 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice. Brampton's record now stands at 59-48, placing them first in the Ontario Baseball Association Ontario South.

With Brampton leading 6-1 in the top of the ninth, Villareal came up to bat against Markham pitcher Javier Díaz. Villareal hit a sinker to right for a 3-run home run. His 16th home run of the season put the Florists on top, 9-1.

Said losing manager Chris Normand: "At the end of the day, we've got to play better."
