Veracruz Extends Series Lead in Low-Scoring Affair
The Veracruz Vigias moved to within one game of the Serie Eliminatoria, downing the Toluca Chorizos, 2-1, in a tense, extra-inning affair at Parque de los Vigías. Leading the way for the Vigias was left-hander Sebastián Ramírez. He threw 7.1 innings of 3-hit ball. The win gives the Vigias a 2-0 advantage in the best-of-5 Serie Preliminar.

The defining moment came in the bottom of the tenth for Veracruz. That's when Leopoldo Montalvo hit a run-scoring double off three-time All-Star Abdón Martínez to win the game. The home crowd went wild.

"We haven't stopped playing," Toluca manager Cristián González said. "We didn't get this far to give up."

The next game is set to be played for Tuesday, August 24th , 1915 at La Salchichera in Toluca.
