Starting pitcher Javier Díaz had a solid game. He was a big reason the Markham Wheelwrights throttled the Hamilton Hammers, 7-2. The Wheelwrights sit in 4th place in the Ontario Baseball Association Ontario South with a record of 54-62.

Don Costello had a big 2-run double for the Wheelwrights in the bottom of the second inning. With Markham leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a sinker from 29-year old left-handed pitcher Emérico Rubio and swatted a double to center. It was his 31st double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Wheelwrights ahead, 3-0.

"I like to keep things lively in the clubhouse," said Díaz. "Believe me, it's much easier after a win."
