Hammers Get Close Win Over Rapids, 4-3
The Hamilton Hammers topped the Sault Ste. Marie Rapids, 4-3, in Ontario Baseball Association action at Hamilton Stadium. The game was highlighted by the performance of Hamilton pitcher Arquímedes Magaña. Magaña yielded 3 runs over 9 innings to notch the win. He scattered 9 hits, walked 5, and struck out 4. His record improves to 3-4. Hamilton is now 47-76, while Sault Ste. Marie is 71-48.

In the bottom of the ninth, with one out and the game tied, 3-3, 20-year old right fielder Eric Caiazzo won it for Hamilton. With runners on 1st and 3rd, Caiazzo hit a 1-2 changeup from Leopoldo Reyes for a run-scoring single, giving his team the 4-3 win.

"This place was jumping at the end," Caiazzo said.
