Wheelwrights Need Extra Innings to Top Wild Pigeons, 10-8
With designated hitter Arcadio Compeán leading the charge, the Markham Wheelwrights defeated the Kitchener Wild Pigeons, 10-8, at Wild Pigeons Stadium. Compeán, who is tied for 7th in the OBA in triples with 5, was 3-5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Jeff Lannigan earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 2 runs on 8 hits in 6.1 innings. His record is now 10-20. Charlie Leighton earned the save for Markham, his 8th.

Ricardo León had the most critical at-bat for Markham. With two in the top of the tenth inning, León hit a first pitch fastball from Hortensio Garza for a 2-run single. It put Markham in front, 10-8.

"A win like this one," said León, "makes me feel warm all over."

The 4th-place Wheelwrights lifted their record to 56-66.
