Wild Pigeons Win in Glorious Fashion, 5-4
The Kitchener Wild Pigeons beat the Markham Wheelwrights, 5-4, in part because of third baseman Julio Sánchez. He went 4 for 5 with a triple, a double, and 2 singles. He scored 3 runs. The winning pitcher was Marcos González. His record now stands at 13-10. The left-hander went 9 innings, allowing 4 runs on 10 hits for the Wild Pigeons. The triumph puts Kitchener at 71-56 for the season.

The decisive blow was delivered by Belisario Salazar in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a run-scoring double off 23-year old left-handed pitcher Charlie Leighton to win the game for Kitchener. The home crowd went nuts.

"It's great when the crowd goes berserk," Salazar said.
