Mentor Draws First Blood in Championship of the Great Lakes With 2-0 Win
Darío Domínguez and the Mentor Rose Stockings opened the Championship of the Great Lakes in brilliant fashion, traveling to Saginaw and shutting out the host Joes at Old Growth Forest, 2-0, to secure an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Domínguez, the Rose Stockings right-hander, threw 9.0 innings of shutout ball.

Domínguez was sensational for Mentor. The right-hander went the distance, shutting out the Joes on 5 hits.

"A complete game shutout in the Championship of the Great Lakes?" an incredulous Domínguez said to reporters after the game. "Man, my arm could fall off tomorrow and I'd be happy with my career."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Old Growth Forest in Saginaw.
