The Cidra Palomas and Vega Baja Caneros played a tight game with the hosts claiming a hard-fought win.

The Cidra Palomas got a magnificent effort from pitcher Carlos Rubio, who kept Vega Baja hitters in check en route to a 3-1 Palomas win at Estadio Juan Gil. At 83-85, the Palomas are currently third in the Liga Betances Cordillera Este.

It was a masterful performance from the popular Rubio, who notched 6 strikeouts in 9 innings while allowing 3 hits. Rubio, who won the Excelentísimo in 1903, goes to 14-11 on the year with 75 strikeouts.

"I'm just trying to make sure I'm focused for each and every pitch," said Rubio.
