Vega Alta Mettle Tested in Tight 6-5 Win
The Vega Alta Lirios knocked off the Toa Alta Sonetistas, 6-5, in Liga Mariana Bracetti action at Parquecito de Vega Alta. Vega Alta pitcher and Loja, Ecuador, native Gabino Algarín had an outstanding performance. Algarín got the win, improving to 1-1. He gave up 2 hits and walked 0 over 5 innings. He allowed no runs. Toa Alta, with the loss, is still a stout 3-1.

The clutch hit was provided by Simón Platero. He delivered a walk-off run-scoring single off Edmundo Campo in the bottom of the 11th.
