The Rincon Maquinistas beat the Mayaguez Alfereces by a score of 7-1. Rincon first baseman Jacob Beaton deserved the lion's share of the credit. Beaton was 3-4 with a home run, a triple, and a walk, while scoring 3 times and driving in 2 for the Maquinistas. Now 3-12, the 1908 Alfereces have sputtered in the early going.

Rincon grabbed the momentum in the bottom of the fifth, when Beaton hit a 2-run home run off José Domínguez. His 4th home run of the season put the Maquinistas out in front, 3-1.

"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Rincon manager José Romero.
