Lortie Pitches Threshers to Shutout Victory
The Steinbach Mennonites manager was philosophical in the clubhouse following a shutout loss to the Brandon Threshers. The Mennonites were overpowered by Brandon starter Bill Lortie, who hurled his club to victory, 4-0.

"It was just one of those games -- shake it off and do better next time," Devin Durrett said.

Over 9 innings, Lortie blanked Steinbach on 4 hits with 4 walks and 6 strikeouts.

"I kept them off balance. I could tell a lot of them were late on fastballs because they were fouling them off. Once you see that, it sets them up for other pitches," Lortie said.

"I set them up, where if they chased one breaking ball, they were going to chase another one."

To date Lortie is 4-2 in 6 starts with a 2.04 ERA and has 28 strikeouts in 53 innings.
