The Steinbach Mennonites did just enough to sneak past the Winnipeg Strikers, 4-3, at Steinbach Grounds. Steinbach pitcher Elías Martínez, in particular, had a standout performance. Steinbach reliever Alberto Barron was credited with the win. His record goes to 1-0. Leonardo Coronado took the loss for Winnipeg. Steinbach now sports a record of 15-26.

Batting in the bottom of the ninth, Cedric Howard had the chance to be a hero. Fat chance Winnipeg pitcher Leonardo Coronado would comply. But with one out, Howard hit a run-scoring single -- and the Mennonites had a thrilling win.

"I know we have our doubters," said Winnipeg manager Julián Ángeles. "But I still have high hopes for this team."
