5-2 Triumph Takes Kamloops to 61-30
|
The Kamloops Fur Traders picked up a win at Gas Field, knocking off the Vancouver Gas, 5-2. Starting pitcher Juan Santos played a key role in the triumph. Santos, now 7-5, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 8, walking 0, and allowing 2 runs. Kamloops has an impressive 61-30 record.
Johnny Martin had a big 2-run home run for the Fur Traders in the top of the second inning. With Kamloops trailing 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he sized up a fastball from 24-year old left-handed pitcher Manuel Herrera and punished it. The result was his 5th home run of the season, which put the Fur Traders on top, 2-1.
Said losing manager Lynwood Thomas: "The at-bats, obviously, needed to be better."
