The Nacogdoches Roaches topped the Beaumont Alpinists, 3-2, in Eastern Association action at Alpinists Field. The standout performance belonged to Nacogdoches pitcher and Ponce, Puerto Rico, native Balduino Anaya. Beaumont now is 14-11.

The game was at a stalemate until catcher Sam Pidgin came to bat in the top of the eighth. Facing Beaumont pitcher Nathan Lloyd, he hit a full count splitter for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Nacogdoches on top, 3-2.

"We had the right guys up at the right times," said Beaumont manager Radamés Marqués. "We just didn't cash in."
