The San Angelo Killer Cacti weathered a fine game by Odessa first baseman Katsuhito Taguchi to upend the Cowhands, 6-5, at Odessa Fields. Taguchi went 2-3 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. San Angelo is in third place in the Eastern Association Odessa Circuit with a record of 20-19.

Vic Emsden drew 1 walk in his only trip to the plate for San Angelo. With two out and the game tied in the top of the ninth inning, Emsden had a clutch at-bat. Facing Odessa hurler Chae-ho Lee, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run to give the Killer Cacti a 6-5 lead.

"There's a lot in this game you can't control. Just take what the game gives you. I was just doing my best to help the team win," Emsden told the San Angelo Chronicle.
