Riding the 4-hit performance of the 20-year old first baseman José García, the Luling Lavender Stockings defeated the San Marcos Cadavers, 10-2. Elián Lara, the winning pitcher, is now 6-1. He went 9 innings, allowing 2 runs on 6 hits, while fanning 9 and walking 4.

Helio Vásquez was 1 for 3 with a double and a walk, while adding 3 RBI for Luling. In the bottom of the fourth, with the teams deadlocked, 2-2, Vásquez delivered for the Lavender Stockings. His run-scoring walk put Luling on top, 3-2.

"Every manager loves to see an offensive outburst from his team," said Luling skipper Peter Ireland.

The Lavender Stockings, at 21-11, sit in first place in the Eastern Association San Marcos Circuit.
