The Abilene Preachers powered past the Amarillo Horizons, 8-5, at Horizons Park. Laureano López provided some of the pop. He went 4 for 4 with a home run and 2 doubles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. David Paton, who is tied for 8th in the WFBA in complete games with 15, was the winner. He's now 9-13. The loser was Nicasio Rosales. Abilene is now 49-57.

Abilene used the timely hitting of Alain Gilles to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Preachers on top, 6-5. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"Good, gritty kind of win," said Preachers manager Jon Plotnick.
