López Lifts Roaches to 4-2 Win
|
At Alpinists Field, the Beaumont Alpinists and Nacogdoches Roaches were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
José López left his imprint on the 4-2 Nacogdoches win against the Beaumont Alpinists. López went 4 for 4 with a home run and 3 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Nacogdoches pitcher Leopoldo Guillén earned the win, hiking his record to 6-8. Carl Ginty suffered the loss. Luís Granier finished the game for Nacogdoches and earned his 1st save.
López had a game-changing home run in the top of the seventh. On a 2-1 cutter from Carl Ginty, he banged a solo home run to left, giving the Roaches a 3-2 lead. It was the 9th home run of the year for López.
"We'll sip on a cold one and savor this win," said López.
The last-place Roaches improved to 49-66.
