Yodelers Take Tight Tangle
New Braunfels beat Luling on the strength of starting pitcher Rodolfo Valdés's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a win, 3-2. Valdés got the win, improving to 22-8. He gave up 9 hits and walked 1 over 10 innings. He allowed 2 runs. The second-place Yodelers now have a win-loss record of 65-63.

Up to bat in the bottom of the tenth, 22-year old left fielder Dan Lemay had a chance to be the hero. Luling pitcher Herminio Sepúlveda had other ideas. But with one out, Lemay hit a sacrifice fly. The Yodelers had themselves a dramatic win.

"Rodolfo just went about his business, throwing strikes," said New Braunfels manager Menelao Martín.
