Layabouts Use Late Surge to Win
The Lubbock Layabouts picked up a win at Horizons Park, downing the Amarillo Horizons, 6-5. On the mound for Lubbock was right-hander Luis Valentín, who played a pivotal role in the win. Sotero Meza claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. His record stands at 1-0. The Layabouts raised their record to 71-58.

Lubbock used the clutch hitting of Luis Fernández to snag the win. The designated hitter drilled a solo home run in the top of the 12th inning to put the Layabouts ahead, 6-5. It was his lone hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a crucial one.

Fernández called the triumph "a good team win."
