A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Phoenix Gila Monsters and Tempe Olympians.

The Phoenix Gila Monsters beat the Tempe Olympians, 7-3, at Phoenix Grounds. Phoenix shortstop Enrique Páramo had an outstanding performance. He was 2 for 5 with a double, while scoring 2 and driving in 4. Picking up the win was Francisco Torras. He went 6.2 innings, allowing 3 runs on 10 hits. The right--hander struck out 4 and walked 2. Tácito Gudino picked up the save for Phoenix, his 12th of the year.

Phoenix grabbed the momentum in the bottom of the fifth, when Páramo hit a bases-clearing double off Matías Martínez. His 16th double of the season put the Gila Monsters out in front, 3-2.

Páramo told the Phoenix Observer: "I think I thrive on conflict. It brings out my best."
