Tabacaleros Handed 2-1 Loss by Soneros
|
Campo de los Tabacaleros was the site of a competitive game between the Trinidad Tabacaleros and Santiago de Cuba Soneros.
The Santiago de Cuba Soneros took Trinidad pitcher Hernán Cruz's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Campo de los Tabacaleros. The final score had Santiago de Cuba getting past the Tabacaleros, 2-1. Cruz went 8 innings and allowed 2 runs, striking out 5. The second-place Soneros improved to 55-71.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Soneros had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the first, when third baseman Etelfrido Tenesaca hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Hernán Cruz and made the score 2-0, Soneros. Tenesaca was 1 for 3.
"It feels good to get this one," Tenesaca told the Santiago de Cuba Gazette.
