The Abilene Preachers topped the Wichita Falls Yardmen, 3-2, in Western Association action at Abilene Grounds. The standout performance belonged to Abilene pitcher and Grand Prairie, La Frontera, native Oliver Minasian. Minasian, now 7-12, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 4, walking 3, and allowing 2 runs. The victory puts Abilene at 47-80.

Abilene left fielder Ousman Youssouf helped the Preachers go up, 3-1, in the bottom of the sixth inning. With the game tied, Youssouf hit a 2-run single off Wichita Falls pitcher Pablo Salas.

"Not to put too fine a point on it," said Minasian, "but we really needed that win."
