Leones Suffer 3-2 Road Loss
|
Pinar del Rio beat Habana on the strength of starting pitcher Gedeón Rubio's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a win, 3-2. In 8.2 innings, Rubio surrendered 7 hits, while striking out 10 and walking 3. He allowed 2 runs. Emanuel Vallejos locked down his 2nd save.
Mórsimo González had a critical at-bat with one out in the bottom of the sixth for Pinar del Rio. He came through with a 2-run single to put Pinar del Rio in front, 3-0.
"I had a good game plan," said Rubio. "I made my pitches." His manager concurred. "It was all there," Justino Rivera said, "the velocity, the sharpness of his pitches."
Pinar del Rio is now 68-46, while Habana is 54-60.
