Sleeping Giants Get Dramatic 5-4 Win
The Thunder Bay Sleeping Giants trumped the Thessalon North Stars, 5-4, at Thunder Bay Grounds. Thunder Bay left fielder Carlos Lantigua was terrific. He went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. The winning pitcher was Aldo Villarreal. He's now 6-5. He went 9 innings, allowing 4 runs on 12 hits for the Sleeping Giants. At 64-68, the Sleeping Giants are currently third in the Ontario Baseball Association Ontario North.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Thunder Bay second baseman Santiago Peña, facing Pelayo Fernández, had a run-scoring ground out. It gave the Sleeping Giants the 5-4 win.

"I'm trying to see the ball big, see the ball up in the zone and put the barrel on it," Lantigua told the Thunder Bay Daily News.
