Mennonites Take Tight Tangle
1908 is shaping up to be a forgettable year for the Brandon Threshers.

The Steinbach Mennonites picked up a win at Steinbach Grounds, topping the Brandon Threshers, 5-4. On the mound for Steinbach was right-hander Arnulfo Sánchez. He played a principal role in the triumph. Sánchez got the win, improving to 24-4. He gave up 7 hits and walked 2 over 9 innings. He allowed 4 runs.

Luis Verdugo hit a solo home run off Jayden Trueman in the bottom of the eighth, which put the Mennonites ahead, 5-4. In addition to the homer, Verdugo had 1 double, while going 2 for 4.

"Arnulfo set the tone with his ability to attack the hitters," said Steinbach manager Julio Piceño.

The first-place Mennonites, at 87-42, now lead their division by 10½ games.
