The Cincinnati Reds knocked off the Cleveland Spiders, 5-3, in Western League action at League Park II 1894-1901. Cincinnati pitcher and Baldwinsville, New York, native Tim Mayhugh had an outstanding performance. Emmett Bowman notched his 1st save of the season. The win gives Cincinnati a record of 9-7.

Cincinnati left fielder Sam Weston helped the Reds go up, 4-3, in the bottom of the sixth inning. With the game tied, Weston hit a run-scoring single off Cleveland pitcher Jim Gardner.

"We take it day by day here," said Weston, "and today was a good one for us."
