Chicago Triumphs with Late Surge
|
The Chicago Orphans banked on Tim Mayhugh and he turned in a masterful performance. The right-hander kept the Louisville hitters in check. The final score was 1-0, Orphans, in 13 innings. At 19-12, the Orphans claim second place in the Western League.
Up to bat in the bottom of the 13th, three-time All-Star Bill Lange had a chance to be the hero. Louisville pitcher Brad Drain wanted to foil that plan. But with one out, Lange hit a run-scoring single. The Orphans had themselves a thrilling win.
"It's a thrill to get that kind of win," Mayhugh said.
