Colonels Snag 8-6 Win
Chicago center fielder Mike Slattery was sensational. He was 2-4 with 2 singles and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. But it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Louisville beat the Orphans, 8-6, in 12 innings. Brad Drain earned the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. His record is now 1-3. By defeating Chicago, the first-place Colonels improved to 21-11.

Louisville used the timely hitting of Piggy Ward to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the 12th inning to put the Colonels on top, 8-6. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

"We just battled, never quit, and continued to grind out at-bats trying to create some opportunities," said Louisville manager Pete Treacey.
