5-Hit Barrage by Martínez
It's not something you read about in the sports pages every day -- a 5-for-5 day. For many, it might come around only once in a career -- and for Ramiro Martínez, it came around today.

The 30-year-old center fielder scattered hits all over Rapids Park, But Better to pace the 8-4 Sault St. Marie Rapids victory over the Duluth Zeniths.

Duluth skipper Fred Corey told reporters in the press room that "Martínez deserves a hat-tip."

"He hit some good pitches against us," he said. "In fact, according to our scouting reports, Martínez hit several that he is not supposed to be able to hit."

Ramiro Martínez singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off Silvio Ramírez in the 4th, singled in the 6th and singled in the 8th.

This year, Martínez is hitting .419 with 1 home run and 4 RBIs to his credit. He has gotten on base at a .471 clip and scored 7 runs.
