Starting pitcher Silvio Ramírez was a major factor in the 3-2 Duluth Zeniths triumph over the Marquette Smelters. Pablo Madera, credited with the win in relief, is now 1-0. He allowed no runs on no hits in 2 innings. The Smelters drop to 8-11, as their stumbling start to the 1915 season continues.

Duluth got a knockout punch from Blake Carter. The right fielder hammered a solo home run in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the game. It might've been his only hit, but it decided the outcome.

"Sometimes you get the ball in the right spot and it goes," said Carter.
