Whalebacks Use Late Rally to Win
Superior starter Toribio Gamboa pitched well against the Marquette Smelters at Pig Iron Stadium. The left-hander led his team to a win, 5-4. Chris Brierley earned save number 4 this season. Marquette falls to 11-13.

Superior used the clutch hitting of Clemente Salinas to capture the win. The right fielder drilled a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to give the Whalebacks the lead, 5-4. For the game, Salinas had 1 single and 1 double in 5 at-bats.

Superior manager Dewey McDougal said his team played a "no nonsense" game.
