Syracuse Blanked by Balbuena
|
The Syracuse Halites were almost helpless in their 1-0 loss to the Irondequoit Peach Kings and hurler Atanasio Balbuena. Balbuena kept the Halites confused all game, spinning a 3-hit shutout.
"Tip your hat to Balbuena," Syracuse manager Jack Neagle said in a postgame interview. "He kept us off balance all night."
The 26-year-old left-hander had 1 walk and 8 strikeouts in a strong performance.
"It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play," Balbuena said. "It was just one of those games that things went my way."
In 7 starts this year, Balbuena has fashioned a 4-3 record and a 3.38 ERA.
