Spiders Suffer 7-5 Setback
|
Cleveland got a terrific game from center fielder George Davis. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Cincinnati, 7-5. Davis was 2-3 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. With the win over Cleveland, the Reds improved to 27-21.
It could have been a different outcome for Cincinnati, had it not been for Jim Nealon, the 23-year old first baseman . Nealon contributed a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put Cincinnati up, 7-5.
"It was a solid team effort," said Nealon after the game.
