The Utica Half Moons soundly defeated the Rochester Lilac Stockings, 17-2, at Perennial Blooming Park, with third baseman Nehemías Piñeda a major reason why. He went 3-5 with 2 home runs and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 7 runs and scored twice for Utica. The win puts Utica at 18-18 this season.

Piñeda had a big hit for Utica with two out in the top of the fourth. With Utica leading 4-1, Piñeda hit a grand slam home run. It was his 9th home run of the season and put the Half Moons up, 8-1.

"You can't sugarcoat this one," said Rochester manager Mox McQuery. "They took us to the woodshed."
