Strang Delivers Walk-Off Win for Colonels
|
The Louisville Colonels earned a close win over the St. Louis Browns, thanks in part to Jake Campbell. The Louisville right-hander, who finished 2nd in the WL in wins with 22 in 1905, played a key role in the 3-2 victory. Louisville currently is in first place in the Western League at 30-22.
The Eclipse Park II crowd erupted in the bottom of the ninth when Sammy Strang, who led the WL in wins above replacement with 6.4 last year, won it for Louisville with a run-scoring single. For the game, Strang went 3 for 5 with 3 singles.
"We had a hellacious effort," said Colonels manager Pete Treacey. "We hung in there and hung in there."
