A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Syracuse Halites and Utica Half Moons.

The Syracuse Halites picked up a win at Salt City Park, knocking off the Utica Half Moons, 8-4. Starting pitcher Nepomuceno Muñoz played a key role in the triumph. Muñoz yielded 4 runs over 9 innings to notch the win. He scattered 10 hits, walked 4, and struck out 8. His record improves to 7-0.

Hedde Geerling had a big 3-run home run for the Halites in the bottom of the first inning. With Syracuse leading 1-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he got a fastball from Luis Quiroz and swatted a home run to left. It was his 5th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Halites ahead, 4-0.

"I had my mind made up to go the distance," said Muñoz.

Today's win puts Syracuse at 25-15, while Utica falls to 22-21.
