Maples Earn 8-3 Home Win
|
Dedicated fans weathered the storm to watch their beloved Maples beat the Zips.
The Norwalk Maples beat the Meadville Zips, 8-3, at Syrup Park. The win was due in part to catcher Rómulo Martínez, who went 2 for 3 with a double and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. Eduardo Fajardo was the winner. He's now 2-6. The loser was Venancio Rivera.
Martínez had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fifth to put Norwalk in front, 4-2. With the bases loaded, he drew a walk, driving in 1 run off Meadville pitcher Venancio Rivera.
"We did more than enough to get the win," said Martínez.
The victory puts Norwalk at 19-29.
