A good performance from designated hitter Lope Reyes helped the Marquette Smelters defeat the Grand Marais Voyageurs, 9-4. Reyes went 3 for 5 with 3 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Smelters. Luis Cárdenas notched his 1st save of the season. Marquette has an impressive 38-15 record.

Reyes had a consequential at-bat in the top of the fourth for the Smelters. Coming up with runners on 2nd and 3rd and Marquette trailing 1-0, he hit a 2-run single.

"Their at-bats were really impressive against us," said losing manager Sean Webster.
