Wet weather did not postpone the Meadville-Norwalk ballgame.

Led by Mateo Torres, the Meadville Zips defeated the Norwalk Maples, 10-2. Torres was 2-4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 4 for the Zips. The winner in relief was Mamerto Hernández. He is now 2-7. The right-hander allowed no runs on 3 hits in 5.2 innings.

Torres contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Meadville in the bottom of the third. With his team trailing 2-0, Torres took a sinker from Pablo Cortés and stroked the home run to right-center. His 5th home run of the season allowed the Zips to leap in front, 3-2.

"I'm trying to see the ball big, see the ball up in the zone and put the barrel on it," Torres told the Meadville News.

With the win, Meadville has a record of 21-35. Norwalk falls to 25-35.
