Maples Suffer 8-3 Loss to Commodores
|
The Erie Commodores and Norwalk Maples completed their game despite the inclement weather.
Though he had a terrific game, Huáscar Esparza could not prevent his team, the Norwalk Maples, from absorbing a loss. Erie won the game, 8-3. Esparza hit 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Rómulo Calvo went 6 innings, allowing 3 runs on 7 hits. The left-hander struck out 3 and walked 2. With the win, he ups his record to 6-6 this season. Marco Tablada closed it out for Erie, earning his 2nd save.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Aaron Lowery? The Erie left fielder had a 2-run single in the top of the sixth inning to put the Commodores on top, 5-3. For the game, Lowery had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"They played a better game than we did," said Norwalk skipper Igor Santiago.
The Commodores move to 29-29 with the win, while the Maples drop to 21-37.
