Superior got a terrific performance from pitcher Guillermo García, but it wasn't enough to beat the Sault St. Marie Rapids. Sault St. Marie won the Rapids Park, But Better contest, 4-2. García threw 7.0 innings of 3-hit ball for the losing team. Arnulfo Vázquez claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2.1 innings. His record stands at 4-4. The 'W' lifts Sault St. Marie's record to 25-34.

Sault St. Marie designated hitter Rafael López contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the second. With two down, he hit a slider to right-center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 44th hit of the season and put the Rapids ahead, 1-0.

"Trying isn't good enough in this league," said López. "You've got to get results."
